What is Zam Zam?

Zam Zam is an apolitical, secular organization geared at serving humanity regardless of geolocation, ethnicity, race, or faith. A humanitarian organization devoted to playing a vital role in eradicating poverty by providing clean, sustainable water and access to quality education to villages across the globe. The term well is a play-on-words and is intended to exemplify how water and education are intertwined. We support orphan centers and schools because Zam Zam believes wellness through access to clean water, the empowerment of women, children, and education are all connected.

What is Social Good Fund?

Social Good Fund Inc., our fiscal sponsor, allows us to operate as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Their mission is to cultivate positive influences around the world. Fiscal sponsorship is a formal, contractual agreement with an existing 501(c)(3) public charity. The fiscal sponsor handles all of the accounting, auditing, and financial administrative work associated with the organization. Tax-deductible donations are possible through the sponsor's exempt status. Legal support and financial protection is provided through the fiscal sponsor as well.

How are Zam Zam’s donations allocated?

All contributions help support our organization and directly affect our projects. 91% of our public support goes directly towards our projects and 9% to the preservation of our organization. This support may include, but is not limited to: Social Good Fund Inc. fees, credit card processing fees, expenses for future fundraising events, marketing/advertising costs, and/or merchandise purchases. These costs indirectly affect our water projects by promoting our brand and reinforce our vision within the community here at home and abroad.

Why is it necessary for Zam Zam to take annual trips?

Each project requires and deserves its own unique amount of attention. We strive to build relationships by personally traveling to project sites and immersing ourselves within the communities we serve. All domestic airfare for our director is covered through personal flight benefits. International airfare and expenses are covered through corporate matched dollars - not donor funds. All hotel and car rental are all purchased by a corporate discounted rate.

Does Zam Zam have any paid staff?

Zam Zam continues to remain a 100% volunteer-based organization. Everyone on staff or affiliate of Zam Zam is a volunteer and receives no type of monetary compensation.

Why is there a high surplus at the end of each year?

We raise funds for our Imam Bukhari Orphan Project from one Ramadan to the next and that does not fall under the typical fiscal calendar year.
